How was quarry form still acting up hope to see pic soon
if youre going to spool, might as well weld it up for nothing. I like my lunchbox locker (lockright) in my samurai and will be putting at least one in the toyota axles. Tally now is 2 bent housings and i just gave up today because of it. it so frustrating, but i did buy some yj springs that are in good shape.
so youre going with a spool insted of a locker?
that is awesome man. glad to hear it. You going to rebuild it before putiting in or just wing it? I got a bit done today, tore both front axles to bear housings, repacked 2 good birfields. just waiting on gussets and inner axle seals then its game on. Maybe sunday ill pull the sammie in the garage and tear into it...
Yea I hate it when a plan goes to shi-----t. 4300 is alot and work this year isnt looking abundant. Might be layed off longer. Usually go back in march, might be off longerand need the money to live on. The 60 would be indestructable. But after reading your story buying used just got scarry. I have a buddy that used to have an older explorersitting in his cow pasture. Something wrong with it, nothing to seriouse in the axle area Ithink it was engine or electrical. Might just call him now and ask.Good luck. If you need any help sometime or a pep talk call me. All I have is free time from now till I go back to work. 740- 947-3564 (home) 740-708-6609 (cell) Athens is only an hour or so away. JEFF
Well one other cheaper option would be the ford 8.8 swap or find some dana 44s out of a rubicon or a tj with a factory rear 44. 4300 is just alot to be putting into an axle. look into the 8.8 swap, you might like it, they are rated for 35s or so on rocks, as are the front dana 30s in tjs. I'm having my own axle woes though, the front toyota axle i bought is bent, and due to messed up axle shaft splines ive cooked a hub trying to put it together... frustrating.
