if youre going to spool, might as well weld it up for nothing. I like my lunchbox locker (lockright) in my samurai and will be putting at least one in the toyota axles. Tally now is 2 bent housings and i just gave up today because of it. it so frustrating, but i did buy some yj springs that are in good shape.
I think a spool. Other option was detroit locker. my brother has a detroit in his jeep. As soon as he starts to turn it locks up.Cant see paying over twice the money for locker if they both scrub tire while turning. UNLESS a spool is week. Never had either. Give me some advice. JEFF

Well decided to go on ride sat. Going to finish brake rebuild on 8.8 then wait on inc.tax $$$. Have 8.8 rebuilt (bearings, seals, spool,). May even price chromoly shafts. Do it all first time and not have to worry about it. JEFF did it agian , clicked it twice

I am going to pull diff cover off and look. Talked to Norm about that. If the lube doesnt look bad or milky and I dont find anything laying in the bottom I may just put in new and run it. It has set in my buddys field for 1 mayby 2 years. He bought it for parts ( bumper & grill). Has no trans in it. May have not been on the road for 4 to 5 years. Hope things look good. That would make free even better. Are you interested in going to club meeting monday night. You could come up my way and ride the rest of way with me and my son allen. Free pizza. I got a bit done today, tore both front axles to bear housings, repacked 2 good birfields. just waiting on gussets and inner axle seals then its game on. Maybe sunday ill pull the sammie in the garage and tear into it...
THERE IS A GOD. Took a buddy and my torch from work to the 98 explorer today. With the use of the 98`s owners tractor and bale spear and only 1 hour of time had the axle in my trailer behind my jeep. The stars must be lined up perfect today. It was a 3.73 limited slip. Its in my garage with no mashed fingers or molten metal burns. Think I will take nap now and go out later and start cleaning it up. JEFF may have hit send mess. twice sorry

cory I have friend with 98 explorer said I could have rear axle.Hope its an 8.8. Could be the start of my own proj. for well less than $4300. In my past things that start out as free can go either way in the money dept. but lets hope for the best. JEFF
