    Beadlocks

Where can a guy get beadlocks purchased(16inch) and installed in central or southern Ohio? The wheels need machined and then the beadlocks installed(welded)....

I just bought a DIY bead lock kit from AtoZfabrication.com. The quality is good and they fit inside the lip of the wheel. I can post pics if you would like. I'm welding mine up this weekend. They're in PA I had them in 2-3 days by FEDEX. For DIY kits his products seem top quality, I bought his rear bumper kit. Good luck, Ron

Then I'd be inclined to find a good machine shop and discuss what you want to do. Also take all the information for kits and a wheel if possible so they know what they are getting into. Ron

Converting steel wheels to beadlocks is pretty common, but not so much on aluminum. There are a couple companies that will do this if you ship your wheels. Keep in mind it's not cheap as Champion lists it as $200/wheel plus shipping. Didn't see a price for OMF.

Also only a few places that sell kits for aluminum.

No reason a good machine shop couldn't do it but would guess it will not be cheap. I would suggest at least having the price of pre-made beadlocks available to use as a comparison.

I was quoted by OMF at a lower price to do the work. Shipping not so cheap to California.

I contacted one of the big DIY beadlock kit vendors on Pirate4x4 a while back about an aluminum kit as I had aluminum wheels and the equipment to weld them on, if memory serves correct I think it was around $100 extra to have him supply aluminum inner rings and steel outters in a kit. I can look up the messages if you decide to go down that route, you could also think about selling your current wheels and buying 16in Eaton beadlocks... they are more expensive than regular wheels but are easier than converting wheels.

Another option would be an internal pneumatic beadlock, assuming you really want to keep the existing wheels.

I'm thinking of getting the AtoZfab beadlock kit since I heard good things about it.

The AtoZ kit is nice. You'll need to bevel the edge of the ring that locks into the bead of the tire. I haven't ran mine much, I haven't noticed any "coning" of the outer ring. Ron
