    New from C-Bus

Hey all! I bought an 88 YJ last year and have enjoyed running the city w/her top down. I haven't done anything but rhino-lined the inside and ziebarted the rest. I want to take my 'relationship' with her to another level with some light off roading. I am green as they come, but am ready to learn. I do not know if she's trail ready, however. She wears 33" off road tires, but I don't know if there have been any suspension mods, and it doesn't appear to have a body lift. Would it be possible that the leaf springs were just flipped over to make room for those tires? Another issue is my "spare" is just a stock size. She has a 4.2 I6, but barely gets out of her own way on the freeway, and seems to top out around 68-70 mph. What kind of things should I be doing in preparation for some easy light off roading? Also, how 'novice' is you guys' novice ride? Any insight is appreciated!

    Thx,

    Hutch

Welcome to the forum from OSU.

A yj on 33's can handle our novice ride and then some. As far as preparing for the novice trailride, you should strongly consider some tow hooks front and rear. Also, invest in a full size spare. Make sure the 4x4 works, and shift in and our of 4x4 properly. Other than that, just make sure your ride is in good running condition. Sounds like you drive yours often, so if it's dependable, you should be alright.
