One of the best wheeling pics..

I was going through my PC and organizing the crap load of files scattered everywhere, and ran across this pic from January 2005(corrected) at Quarry. Roy is in Buford and Jamie in his old Jeep. I read the trail report and saw the pic before actually meeting both Roy and Jamie I think. I wasn't there, but after reading Roy's extremely-detailed-yet-I-was-still-hanging-on-to-every-detail report, the only thing I thought was that, "man, I wished I was there". The brown ice chunks floating in mud is just classic. Anyway, I think it is one of the best pics from our rides, and I remember very clearly how it inspired me to build up my Jeep.

If you have any killer pics, a best-of from Ohio 4x4 rides, post 'em in this thread.

See if anybody can name the year or location. This is why I don't intentionally get into deep mud anymore.

Correct on the picture below with Buford on it's side........that one is easy. I'm talking about the one with the Blazer buried to it's headlights.

Great thread Brent! I just found this post tonight. It's funny that earlier this week I thought of finding some pictures of my first rig (it's in multiple pictures above). I believe that my wife saved some old Ohio4x4 pictures to CD discs before our old computer crashed/slowly died.

I have a few comments on earlier posts on this thread...some are accurate, some aren't. I'll post more after some digging for old pictures in the next few days.

Anyway, I'll never forget that January 2005 Quarry ride...

I went back and looked at 8 years of pictures that i have on the computer. Boy have some of our rides changed (and multiple times in some cases...)

Since this thread has sort of morphed into a best picture/worst stuck thread, I'll add a couple of both. Most of these were taken on club rides or with club members.

these are old 35mm shots i scanned in (just was given a scanner today). i'm pretty sure all of these were b4 this club existed, but were from south east buckeye rides. so they sorta count.
i think the first one is now a 4' + hole on quarry that has a bypass to the right. it is past the creek. that is chris foley's jeep.
the next 2 are in marietta when it was fun down there. the first one is aaron levering on 411 (no, the hole is no longer there). the second one is the old sluice on little 8 mile. again, it is also gone.
the last one is miller's on barkcamp. the next time someone says on the cb "this is where the beaver pond used to be", now you have an idea of what it looked like.
hopefully these pics will show up on here.

Mike S: The pictures of Buford buried in the sandy creek were at a trail near Quarry that we ran once (at least that it all I ran it). I cracked my windshield on that ride (it had somehow managed to remain non-broken for multiple years). The trail was really tight but I kinda liked it. I forget why we no longer go there.

Kevin: I remember reading an online trail report from sometime in 2001, and that is what made me want to join the club...in the report two people lost fuel pumps and Lambert drug them out of the woods in his YJ.

    My history with the club-----

Rig A: November 2001 to October 2002: I wheeled a 1984 F150 4x4, 302, 4 speed. 36" TSL's, locked rear (most of the time), open front, no lift. It was a good truck...surprised people on the trail on a regular basis.

Rig B: November 2002 to January 2003: I wheeled a 1978 Ford Bronco, tired 351 for November, swampped in a new engine in December & wheeled it with the 400 engine in January. I lifted it 6" & hated it. It shat all over the trail. This was my own fault. Did I mention it was 8 degrees outside? I swore I wouldn't be back on the trail until I was wheeling a beefy rig.

Rig C: This never hit the trails, but I bought it with the intention to wheel, so I'll mention it. Later in the winter of 2003 I drove to Michigan and towed home a crappy late 80's F350 that needed too much work. We moved from Zanesville to our current house in March of 2003. At the time, I had the POS Bronco towed to the new house along with the crappy POS F350. (I was doing my best to fit in with the lcoals). I later sold the F350 for few hundred dollar loss. I parted out the POS Bronco for basically what I had in it. In

Rig D: In May of 2003 I found Buford for $800. I've lived (mostly) happily ever since.

Rough timeline for newer guys wanting to figure out the approximate year of old pictures with Buford in them:

v1. May 2003 to summer 2004: White wheels, 38" tires, full 3" exhaust exited behind the rear tires, huge rear bumper, no winch.

v2. Summer 2004 to December 2004: White wheels on one side, black wheels on the other (wasn't sure which I liked better), huge rear bumper.

v3. December 2004 to early 2007: 42's, door armor, chrome wheels, removed the rear bumper before the Slade Easter ride in 2005.

v4. April 2007 to November 2008: No bed.

v5. November 2008 to July 2009: No Buford. Actually Buford was in the garage in various pieces.

v6. July 2009 to November 2009: "New" body, armor on fenders & hood, sunvisor, no hood scoop, no FORD letters on hood.

v7. December 2009 to present: Converted to propane. You can tell by the four tanks mounted behind the cab.

I found the old pictures on CD disks over the weekend. I wanted to bring them to work today (faster download), but was running late. I will bring them tomorrow.

I know that it was pre November 2001, but I don't know how much prior to that. You had 35" MTR's when I joined the club. I can't tell if those are MTR's or the 33" BFG's you talked about before. I think the area was the Quaker City area that I heard out. If not there, it must have been the Seven Creeks place in the Barkcamp vicinity (I've never been there either). I'd estimate the year to be 2000 or 2001. When I was looking at the club website in 2001, I remember Quaker City being listed as a ride. It was one of the reasons I was interested in the club (Quaker City was/is relatively close to me).

Roy, the pictures of Buford are definetely from that ride at quarry. I remember it being wet and very tight on that first trail. There was a pretty deep water crossing, if I recall correctly.

There are several pictures from the bet ride. I think that the pictures of Brent and Rex and maybe the big ford. I'll never forget -- "just cause the numbers match doesn't mean it's a good idea".

The one of the red tj and blue blazer are steve h and, I think, John Wallace, my first trip to the quarry. I just remember having to jump start John every time he stopped.

Ahhh, the bet ride, good times!

In that last pic where my YJ is buried above the tire in water/mud, I think I lost my third alternator. Stupid XJ's put the alternator on the bottom..
