The 2 grants that OMTA applied for are due in the Spring, and are accepted/denied in the Fall - we have a while to wait.

Also, OMTA seems to be finding lots of land to buy - just doesnt have the $$$ to buy it all. The #1 potential land purchase for OMTA is only a couple hours from downtown Columbus, nearly everything else is way farther (Im working for an offroad park thats as centrally located in the state as possible)

I've skied the Pike County land and walked it in summer. It would make a great hill climb but there aren't any rocky areas. The rocks were covered when they dozed for ski runs. Still, there is room for quite a few trails running up and down the hill. One area was a cliff face that the former owners covered with earth to make the drop ski-able.

Another thing worthy of note is that the 78 acres could produce a fair number of challenging trails. Lost Valley has 16 if I remember correctly and it is only about 100 acres. I agree with Norm about accessability. Southern Ohio splits the difference between Columbus and Cincinnati, has good change in elevation and... is cheap in comparison to other areas of the state. What areas are under consideration, generally speaking?

OMTA is looking at an area near Chillicothe - over a couple thousand acres - with worst-case sale price being $1000 per acre (but surely to go down a lot). We/OMTA are just waiting on word from the land-owners (lowest acceptable price, partial vs full land purchase, etc).
