Welcome to the April 2012 Novice Ride!!!!

This ride will focus on street friendly trucks and drivers with limited off-road experience. We encourage participation from anyone with a stock to mildly modified 4x4 vehicle (for example 31 - 33 inch tires on a short wheelbase vehicle).

Activities will include a tech inspection to verify the street/trail worthiness of the vehicle, recovery demonstration/discussions, trail first aid, and a tread lightly discussion, followed by an easy trail ride.
Those wishing to participate are encouraged to register early as the ride will be limited to 40 participants. Specific ride information will be sent to pre-registered participants only.

This ride will no longer include the "Extreme" group of the past. We found that this group detracted from our ability to meet the true mission for this ride. We feel that heavily modified rigs and experienced drivers will not benefit from this ride.

Ohio 4x4 Trailriders have a zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use on the trail, or prior to the event. Anyone found with drugs or alcohol will be asked to leave and not permitted to participate with the club in the future.

This ride will be on Saturday April 14th from 9:00 A.M. till approximately 4:00 P.M.. If you are interested in registering for this ride please send an e-mail to ohio4x4@gmail.com with your name and e-mail/snail mail address. (Registration packets will start going out in early March.)

Again we'd like to emphasize this will be a novice only event, there will be no intermediate/advanced trails ran during this event. If you are a more experienced driver and/or have a modified rig, the club allows non-members to participate in one normal club ride in order for you to get a feel for a "normal" club ride. Our trail rides are always on the 2nd Saturday of the month. If you'd like information on a "normal" club ride please PM one of the club members or officers.
If you have any questions regarding the novice ride please contact the ride coordinator or one of the Ohio 4x4 Trailriders officers.

We look forward to seeing you on the trails....

Posts asking for directions to the trails rarely, if ever, get replied to. There a few reasons for this.

The first and main reason is that we basically just do not want to advertise the location of the "trails". All of the trails we run are legal roads, however there are bunches of illegal side trails and bypasses that run through private property. Since there are obviously no road signs it would be pretty easy to accidentally get on one of these trails if you do not know your way around.

We try to respect the private land owners as much as possible and just one truck straying someplace they shouldn't be can cause problems for the entire fourwheeling community.

There are also those out there, even though it may be a small percentage overall, that have no respect for the trails. This can be witnessed by the endless piles of beer cans, trash, and burnt cars you often see in these areas. Along these lines it's pretty difficult to give directions to the trail and through them as there a very few trails that do not have numerous turn-offs and loops.

The second reason is that the trails we run are not the type you would want to go by yourself, nor are they the type you can just go and play around for a couple of hours and come home. Even the most well equipped rigs often get stuck or break down and there are no tow places or repairs shops just around the corner and we often spend a solid 8 hours just getting from one end to the other. I would never lead anyone to these trails unless they were well equipped and had at least three or four rigs along. A third, and possible biggest reason, is that there are anti-fourwheel groups that could intentionally target specific areas in an attempt to close them down if they found out where they are....even though they are legal public roadways.

Again, the places we go are not our own private trails, and we will not ever claim they are. We just choose not to publicize this information for any random person to find while surfing the web. If anybody is interested in riding these trails, I would highly recommend joining an existing club (whether it is this one or another one), or just join up with a responsible group of people who also enjoy fourwheeling.
